As
we enter the last week before the race, we discover a new challenge.
Something in our reconfiguration of the drive system has changed
the amount or pattern of electrical interference. Our Battery Management
System begins to give inaccurate readings whenever there is current
flowing through the battery pack. We try a number of filtering and
shielding fixes but are unable to come up with a solution.
We
decide that the team is comfortable running the pack without a BMS
as long as we keep the State of Charge between 20% and 90%. This
means we will only be able to use 70% of the pack's total capacity.
